Workshop Facilitator: David Overmars
Workshop Description
Curious about filmmaking but not sure where to start? This hands-on beginner workshop walks you through the basic process of creating a simple film scene from start to finish.
Participants will work together to plan, shoot, and edit a short two-person scene, learning the essential fundamentals of camera framing, sound recording, and basic editing. Along the way, you’ll discover practical techniques that can instantly improve your production value, including how to work with available light, microphones (optional), and simple camera setups.
You are welcome to bring your phone or laptop and practice with your own gear, or simply follow along and participate as part of the group.
By the end of the workshop, you will understand the key building blocks of filming a scene and leave with the confidence and practical knowledge to start making your first film.
This workshop is especially helpful for anyone planning to participate in the CANZ 48 Hour Film Challenge, but it is open to anyone interested in learning the basics of filmmaking.
