48 hour Film Challenge Kickoff — Friday, April 17, 2026
Have one representative from your team arrive at the Antigonish Library between 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM to pick up the official instruction package. Once your team receives the package, the clock starts. You will have 48 hours to write, shoot, and edit your film before submitting it.
Completed films must be uploaded by 4:00 PM on Sunday, April 19th.
The CANZ 48 Hour Film Challenge is a fast-paced and fun filmmaking event for the Antigonish community. Teams will race the clock to create a short film in just two days. Whether you're an experienced filmmaker or trying it for the first time, the challenge is designed to be creative, collaborative, and welcoming to everyone.
Leading up to the event, we are offering free workshops (see below) to help participants gain a competitive edge or simply learn how accessible and exciting filmmaking can be.
The name “CANZ” reflects the community spirit of the event. After the challenge, we will host a red carpet screening where all the films will be shown. Audience members are encouraged to bring a voluntary canned food donation for the community fridge as the cost of admission.
